Caved in: Six buried under mud; two dead

Two persons were recovered alive and were rushed to Kohat Divisional Hospital in critical condition.

HANGU: Six labourers were buried alive under a mound of mud which caved in on them while digging a well in Togh Sarai, Hangu district on Sunday afternoon. Saddar police official Islam said a patrolling police party was informed by residents of Togh Serai that six labourers, hired to dig a well inside a house, were buried alive after it caved in on them. He explained police along with residents of the area rushed to the site and launched rescue efforts. Two persons were recovered alive and were rushed to Kohat Divisional Hospital in critical condition. Later, two more bodies were recovered and were identified as Muhammad Sanaullah, a resident of Mardan, along with Saifullah, from Togh Serai. He added the rescue work to recover Zahir Ali and Yar Gul is still underway, however, he speculated their chances of survival were slim.
