ISLAMABAD:
The Population Council (PC) of Pakistan in collaboration with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) has announced an essay competition seeking write-ups in Urdu and English on “population issues”.
Writers including journalists and columnists have been asked to write persuasive articles on population issues against prizes.
The competition under the project “national advocacy and media campaign on population related issues” carries the title “Sochain, Badlain, Amal Karain” and aims to alter the current complacency around the issues through strong arguments.
A representative of PC said that the time has come to move from rhetoric to action by dealing with the continuous population growth. The write-ups should not exceed 1200 words, he said.
The official said that the winning entries will be announced on or before December 31 while winners in each language will get Rs50,000, Rs40,000, Rs25,000 and Rs15,000.
The population council official further said the write-ups should reflect all critical dimensions of a balanced growth in population for the future development of the country.
