Healthy Sunday: Cyclists gather to raise awareness

Participants discuss climate change, reliable transport systems.

The Pakistan Sustainable Transport Project (PAKSTRAN) participated in a bicycle rally organised by Shehersaaz and Critical Mass Islamabad to celebrate Transport Day.

The event was executed in collaboration with the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and the Islamabad Traffic Police at the Fatima Jinnah Park.

The event brought together various civil society groups and private institutions working towards the shared goal of alleviating impact of climate change.

The event was attended by fitness enthusiasts of the capital who cycled from the Mehran Gate to F-8 and back within one hour.


CDA Member Environment Ahsan Ali Mangi expressed his support for PAKSTRAN and was optimistic on meeting the authority’s objective of providing a dedicated lane for cyclists on the capital’s roads.

Other speakers at the event, including Almas Saleem, national coordinator Shehersaaz, Saadullah Ayaz, component manager, PAKSTRAN and ITP SSP Asmatullah Junejo discussed the immense potential for sustainable, safe and reliable transport systems in the capital.

PAKSTRAN is a government project that aims to address transport related problems in the country along with improving the environment.
