PESHAWAR:

The split within the Awami National Party (ANP) continues to grow as the Pukhtun Students Federation (PSF) – the party’s student wing – decided to part ways to join Begum Nasim Wali’s ranks.

Addressing a news conference at the Peshawar Press Club, PSF Central President Bashir Sherpao announced the student wing will join Begum Nasim. The ANP and its future are at risk under the leadership of Asfandyar Wali Khan, said Sherpao, explaining the shifting allegiance.

“Asfandyar and his team have no right to lead ANP or engage in politics in the name of Pukhtuns,” stated the PSF, “Not after the astounding failure of ANP in the previous elections.”

“We fully support Begum Nasim and Lawangeen Wali Khan, and will follow them as the rightful leaders of ANP.”

Sherpao said, “The allegations levelled by Azam Khan Hoti against Asfandyar Wali Khan and his colleagues for alleged corruption are now tractions as facts.” Begum Nasim had also supported Hoti’s statements.

The PSF central president also announced dissolving organisational bodies of the student wing across the country. A committee has been formed to conduct elections, he added.
