Several provincial ministers and government officials on Saturday visited Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan and Dera Ghazi Khan to review prices of daily use items.


The committee comprising Ministers Bilal Yaseen, Farrukh Javed and Chaudhry Muhammad Shafique, the chief secretary, the police inspector general and the Industries secretary also inspected Sahulat Bazaars set up by the government to provide quality edibles to the masses at fair prices.

Talking to the media during a visit to a Sasta Bazaar in Bahawalpur, Bilal Yaseen said the chief minister had taken the imitative to provide relief to the common man against inflation.

He said the district administration officials had been directed to monitor the auction process of the grain market twice each week.

He said a price control magistrate would be deployed at each important market in the city to monitor prices of products.


“An unbiased audit system is being used for monitoring to stop hoarding and artificial inflation,” he said.



Later Commissioner Captain (r) Asadullah Khan Khichi briefed the committee about the performance of price control magistrates, prices of fruits and vegetables in Bahawalpur division.

The commissioner said 22 Sasta Bazaars had been set up in Bahawalpur division where fruits, vegetables, flour, oil and other items were being at cheaper prices.

Captain (r) Asadullah Khan Khichi  said five such bazaars had been established in Bahawalnagar and Bahawalpur districts each. He said, “As many as 12 have been set up in Rahim Yar Khan.”

Khichi said the price control magistrates had carried out 2,368 raids and had collected Rs1.4846 million in fines for overcharging.
