Death penalty: Man convicted of rape, murder of minor

A local court announced death penalty for a man convicted of murder and rape in addition to separate 10-year and nine-year jail term.


The convict, Mohammed Iqbal Shah, was accused of raping and killing a 9-year-old boy.

The crime took place in the limits of the Husri police station in Hyderabad rural in August, 2008. “My son was a grade three student. He was going to school when he suddenly went missing. We later found his dead body from an abandoned house,” said Karim Bux Qambrani. According to the police, the boy was strangled to death after rape.

The third additional district and session judge Zahoor Ahmed Hakro sentenced Shah on three separate charges - kidnapping, rape and murder. In addition to the sentence, Shah has also been fined Rs100,000, which will be given to the aggrieved family.
