PESHAWAR:
An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) sent a proclaimed offender to Central Prison Peshawar on Friday.
Wahid Ahmed was sentenced to 25 years in prison for the murder of the brother of gang rape victim Uzma Ayub on November 11 but had not been arrested then. He appeared in court on Friday and was sent to prison.
The other offenders, Ibrahim Shah and Rahat Shah, were sentenced on November 11 by the same ATC judge.
The three men, along with ASI Hakim Shah and Javed Shah were accused of killing Alamzeb when the latter was escorting his sister, Uzma, to a hearing for her rape case in Karak court in Marotan on December 9, 2011. The mother of the deceased, Balqesim Ayub, accused ASI Hakim Shah and his two brothers, Javed Shah and Ibrahim Shah, in a case registered at Yaqoob police station.
Initial hearings were held in court in Karak but on the orders of Peshawar High Court’s Chief Justice Dost Muhammad Khan, they were transferred to Peshawar.
While the three men were charged, assistant sub inspector Hakim Shah and Javed were acquitted over lack of evidence. Four people accused in the rape case were given bail from a court.
