Sexual health: 124 people in Sanghar tested HIV positive

At least 124 people in Sanghar suffer from human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), shows a two-year research by Bridge Consultants Foundation.
The study, shared at an event in Sanghar district on Thursday, only factors in drug addicts. Some 1,300 persons were examined over the course of the research, said the foundation’s Ali Sher Daheri. “Two dozen of these HIV positive patients are married and have children too. But, luckily, none of their family members have been tested positive.”
He informed that the district’s Tando Adam taluka has the highest numbers of HIV patients at 60, followed by Shahdadpur with 40 cases, Sanghar 20 and Khipro four. No case surfaced in Jam Nawaz Ali and Sinjhoro talukas. According to Daheri, at least 50 drug addicts died in Sanghar in the last two years, adding that 15 of them were HIV patients. Ten of these deaths occurred in Tando Adam, three in Sanghar and two in Shahdadpur.
