The Punjab High Police on Wednesday foiled a robbery attempt, but a constable was injured in the process.


Separately, the PHP arrested five suspected robbers and recovered a person they had taken hostage as well as a stolen motorcycle.

ASI Shah Mohammad and Constables Sarfraz Ahmed, Nasir Mushtaq and Nematullah were patrolling Ajnala Road when they saw six armed men trying to take away money and a car from Shahid Pervaiz, a Sargodha resident. The suspects opened fire at the police, injuring Constable Ahmed, and fled.  Ahmed was taken to Sargodha Civil Hospital.

In a separate incident, the PHP was informed that two men on a motorcycle had robbed some people and fled towards 40 Mor.

The PHP managed to arrest the men and recovered a 0.30 bore pistol and five bullets from them. The PHP also stopped a suspicious car near Jodhke, Faisalabad, and recovered an injured person who had been kidnapped from Nankana Sahib. our correspondent
