PESHAWAR:
Awami National Party (ANP) Acting Central President Senator Haji Muhammad Adeel has called a meeting of party leaders on Thursday at the residence of Asfandyar Wali Khan in Charsadda, to discuss Begum Nasim’s decision of re-entering politics and upcoming intra-party elections. The meeting would also discuss the situation created after the announcement of calling a Grand Jirga by Nasim.
In a statement issued by Senator Haji Adeel and Mian Iftikhar Hussain on Wednesday, Adeel criticised Begum Nasim’s methods, saying no one can isolate Asfandyar Wali Khan from ANP. “He is the true heir of Bacha Khan and Wali Khan. Without him, the Pukhtun political arena would be incomplete,” he added.
Both Mian Iftikhar Hussain and Haji Adeel said Nasim was a seasoned politician, however, if she thinks ANP is not in secure hands, then she should get party membership and contest the elections for president.
