Conference: New innovations for health

A international conference on “New innovations for health through Research and development” being organised by the Society of surgeons of Pakistan, National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) and Higher Education Commission (HEC) will be open at CIPS auditorium, NUST, H-12 on Friday at 10am.


Dr Asif Zafar Malik, Head of Department of Surgery Rawalpindi Medical College, President of the society’s Rawalpindi-Islamabad chapter will review the ongoing international surgical week (Nov 25-30).




Speakers will present research papers and presentations on ‘minimal access surgery, nutrition, critical care and vascular surgery. There will be session on carcinoma breast live demonstration of surgery from South Korea and lecture via video link from US and India. The society has joined hands with NUST for research and development of robotics and simulation in surgery.

HEC’s PERN network will assist in live streaming of key sessions to all medical universities and regional centres of College of Physicians and Surgeons, Pakistan.

General Azhar Rasheed, Surgeon General /DG Medical Services, will be the chief guest on the concluding ceremony on Nov 30.
