Activists from PTI and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) had set up a protest camp on November 24 at Hayatabad Toll Plaza to prevent Nato containers from entering the city. Since then the protesters have stopped trucks passing through the route for verification and returned those carrying goods for Nato forces in Afghanistan.
Many have been accused of damaging goods and manhandling truck drivers, with police earlier registering cases against 40 PTI workers.
As the demonstration by the parties entered fourth day, security was beefed up in the protest area. Barbed wires were laid around the camp, while a metal detector door was installed at the entrance.
Police further said that anyone involved in harming the cargoes going through the route will be immediately arrested.
Despite this continuous protest at the toll plaza, the traffic on the route has not been affected.

A relative of mine had his car stolen and destroyed by workers of a certain political party in Karachi. Instead of getting support from the police he was instead harassed, attacked and was kidnapped a few days later. He is now happily living in Dubai and is now a staunch supporter of PTI and Imran Khan. Peshawar is a 100 times safer than Karachi no matter what these fascist commenters above me say PPP, MQM and PMLN are a curse on the people of this nation.

Why the "action" is being taken against poor workers only? Why not against those who have instigated (and misled) them? The leaders of PTI should be brought to justice for aiding & abetting this lawlessness!

this is ethnic cleansing of Pakthoon tribes. Pakthoon, Baloch and Sindh tribes must unite to Isolate the other group.Then only can there be peace.
Punjabi police are persecuting brave Pakthons who eat goat mandy and nihari for a living.
@Shariq: What these hooligans are doing is exactly what you call breaking the law! Checking the identification of drivers is the job of government officials not some political party activists! If the police is not stopping this illegal activity it really means that it's influenced! So trying to fool people PTI supporters!
@Owais Mukhtar: The arrest happened because they beat up the driver not for stopping containers but he point is hat the people wo have been stopping containers and checking documents have no authority o do so. Police should sto them but doesn't.

@Shariq How is it possible for the PTI supporters to stop trucks and check their documents if the police is not "influenced"? Can I please also stop traffic in Peshawar and harass the drivers there? Has the responsibility of policing being shifted to PTI workers now?
I'm a very staunch critic of Imran Khan but one thing that I must give credit to him and his party is that they have not influenced the police to be at the whims and desires of the provincial government, unlike in other provinces. I cannot fathom Sindh Police taking any action against PPP or Punjab police taking action against PMLN. It's a good step towards good governance. Now would like to see more of PTI performing on the economic front (unemployment, inflation, investment) of the province rather than wasting time on NATO and drones and election rigging etc which does not help the common man in any way.
Interesting situation. PTI government versus PTI supporters. IK is not in the government so he is the supporter.
