Highway patrol: Suspects escape after shootout

LAHORE: The Punjab Highway Patrol (PHP) traded fire with two suspects who fled a picket on Sunday, according to a press release.  A PHP team in Bahawalnagar tried to stop the two men on a motorbike, but they opened fire and sped away, said the press release. The PHP chased them to a nearby graveyard, where they found the motorbike abandoned. The PHP seized the unregistered motorcycle.

The PHP also arrested eight men for possession of eight litres of liquor, 27g of hashish and unlicensed weapons in separate busts.
