Child custody: Man summoned over wife’s plea

The petitioner says her husband returned to Pakistan taking their daughter with him.

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Friday directed the Gujranwala Cantonment SHO to produce before the court a man accused of depriving his Japanese-Russian wife of their daughter’s custody. Evanva Evagena submitted that she had married Ahmad Naseem of Gujranwala six years ago in Japan.  She said she had embraced Islam and was the given Islamic name Ayesha.  She said they had a daughter. The petitioner said later her husband returned to Pakistan taking their daughter with him.  She asked court to grant her custody of the child as she was the natural guardian. Justice Sheikh Najamul Hassan adjourned hearing till November 27 and directed the SHO to produce the husband of the petitioner.
