A sports festival, organised by local sports association Bangalore Tigers, commenced on Thursday in Kalash Valley. The event aims to promote tourism and help add to the region’s economy. A total 44 cricket, 27 football and 10 volleyball teams are participating in the tournament. Hundreds of spectators gathered to watch the first cricket match, which was between Shakhanda Rumbur and Shekhan Bamburet cricket clubs. Rumbur defeated Bamburet by eight runs. Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz Women Wing District President Bibi Jan attended as the chief guest and announced a Rs30,000 prize for the winning team. “The PML-N government is taking concerted steps to boost sporting activities,” said Jan.
