Epidemic control: LHC seeks govt’s dengue policy
The chief justice Lahore High Court remarked that governance appeared to be a “one-man show” in the province.
LAHORE:
Lahore High Court Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial on Thursday said health affairs appeared to be at the bottom of the government’s list of priorities.
The chief justice also remarked that governance appeared to be a “one-man show” in the province.
He was hearing a petition questioning the alleged failure of the government to control dengue fever.
Advocate Azhar Siddique, the petitioner, said the government had held many awareness seminaries on dengue fever but had failed to take practical measures. He asked the court to seek a detailed report from the government.
An additional advocate general told the court that the government had been working to control the outbreak.
He said the health secretary and director general had been replaced and their successors were developing new strategies to control dengue.
The chief justice asked him to brief the court on Dec 3 on the government’s policy to eliminate dengue fever.
