Football: Army secure fifth win in PPFL

Two-time champions outshine HBL 4-0.

KARACHI:
Two-time champions Army registered their fifth win in the ongoing Pakistan Premier Football League (PPFL) season as they thrashed HBL 4-0 yesterday.

Army’s Sadaf Iqbal scored the opening goal of the match in the 21st minute while his team-mate Ansar Abbas doubled the lead in the 34th.

They continued to dominate the match in the second-half as well. Iqbal scored his second goal in the 70th minute, while Abbas scored the winner in the third minute of injury-time to seal victory for his team.

The win will boost Army’s confidence as they managed to move up to the seventh position with 21 points after playing 12 matches.


Meanwhile HBL, who contained defending champions KRL with a goalless draw in their last match, failed to hold up against Army.

They lost their seventh match in the season and continued on the 11th position with 18 points.
