The soon-to-retire Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Ashfaq Pervaiz Kayani chaired the Formation Commanders conference at General Headquarters (GHQ) Rawalpindi for one last time on Wednesday.
The meeting featured discussions on various security issues including the situation around the country's borders, the war on terror and other professional matters of the armed forces.
The event is held twice a year and is attended by Corps Commanders, Principal Staff Officers and Formation Commanders.
Later, the COAS met Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in a one-on-one meeting where the two discussed the political and security matters of the nation.
General Kayani retires from his post of COAS on November 29, as speculations continue over his possible successor.
