Construction approved: Korangi Creek Industrial Park land up for grabs

KARACHI:
The National Industrial Parks Development and Management Company (NIP) and Sci Life Pharma Private Limited signed a licence agreement that authorises the latter to start the construction of a manufacturing plant – considered to be its flagship project – in the Korangi Creek Industrial Park (KCIP).
A NIP official said the agreement was signed by NIP Chief Executive Officer Mohsin Syed and Shahid Ghaury, an emerging name in the pharmaceutical industry, involved in the production of medicines for various harmful diseases.
Earlier, Getz Pharma, Mobil Askari Lubricants Limited, Al-Rehman Lubricants Private Limited and Faruk Impex Corporation had signed licence agreements with the NIP to start construction of their manufacturing units. Additionally, 15 building plans submitted by the customers of KCIP, who are keen to start construction, await the approval from the Cantonment Board Korangi Creek (CBKC).
With the setting up of industrial units at KCIP, for a wide variety of industrial products the city has entered into a new era of economic prosperity. This is because, as soon as the industrial units established at KCIP start production, this industrial zone alone will start contributing Rs40 billion annually to GDP and provide approximately 30,000 direct and 180,000 indirect employments. KCIP will have an investment potential of Rs20 billion.
Spread over an area of 250 acres, KCIP plans to set up a training centre with the assistance of Sindh Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (STEVTA) to train labourers according to the specific requirements of this industrial area. This institute will train people from the adjoining areas of the zone which include Bhitai Colony, Ibrahim Hyderi, and other localities of the area.
Keeping in view the current volatile law and order situation in the city, the NIP will ensure an infallible security system to its clients. In accordance to this it has decided to install a dedicated Electronic Security System (ESS). The primary function of the ESS would involve an electronic centrally-control system, the intrusion-detection system, and the closed-circuit television (CCTV) system.
