FAISALABAD:
District Coordination Officer Noorul Amin Mengal on Tuesday reprimanded the Regional Transport Authority secretary for not realising that children were being missed during the anti-polio vaccination at the General Bus Stand.
The DCO made a surprise visit at the bus stand to personally monitor the vaccination drive.
He went inside buses and asked parents if their children had been vaccinated. When there were several answers in the negative, the DCO summoned the RTA secretary, Tariq Mehmud.
Taking notice of children who had not been attended by polio workers, the DCO expressed dissatisfaction with the drive at the bus stand.
The DCO also reprimanded Administrator Rana Habibullah and ordered him to improve arrangements for children of travelling families.
“Not a single bus should be allowed to leave the bus stand, until it was cleared by the authority,” the DCO said.
He directed the officials concerned to ensure that trained staff was deputed at all bus stands.
He said scouts and Vocational Training Institute employees should also be involved in the polio campaign.
He also directed the officials to set up vaccination camps on main roads and markets.
