ISLAMABAD:

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf demanded to widen the mandate of the ‘judicial commission’ to probe all sectarian violence-related incidents that occurred across the country during Ashura last week.

At a press conference, PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi asked the government to widen the scope of the commission constituted to probe the violence in Rawalpindi. “We demand that the judicial commission constituted to look into Rawalpindi incident should widen its mandate to include other cities where similar sectarian incidents have, and are, taking place,” he told reporters.

Qureshi demanded an immediate session of the lower house of parliament to discuss the acute security situation arising in the country, after the violence in Rawalpindi when two rival religious groups clashed with each other.

“If the government is not prepared to call an immediate session of the National Assembly, PTI is in touch with the opposition to requisition the same,” they added.
