PPP, opposition big guns among non-cooperative members

Gilani, Chaudhry Nisar, Chaudhry Shujaat among list of members who failed to provide certificates to HEC.

ISLAMABAD:
Top politicians from both the ruling and opposition parties are among 428 legislators who did not cooperate with the Higher Education Commission (HEC) in completing the degree verification process.

Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani, Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, chief of the Awami National Party (ANP) Asfandyar Wali, Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and dozens of federal and provincial ministers are among those whose educational degrees could not be verified because they did not provide their Matriculation and Intermediate certificates to the HEC.

The MQM is the only party in the National Assembly and  Senate whose members have been given a clean chit by the HEC.

The HEC recently handed over to the ECP a list carrying names of 428 ‘uncooperative’ parliamentarians who failed to produce their secondary and higher secondary school certificates.

The list contains names of 23 Senators, 138 members of the National Assembly, 153 of the Punjab Assembly, 21 of the Sindh Assembly, 83 of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Assembly and 11 members of the Balochistan Assembly.
