Police performance: 1,675 proclaimed offenders at large

The Lyallpur division police failed to arrest 146 proclaimed offenders, including 69 accused of murder.

As many 1,675 proclaimed offenders have still to be arrested, a Police Department official told The Express Tribune on Monday.



He said Jaranwala division police had failed to meet their target. They said there were 484 proclaimed offenders, including 218 wanted for murder, in the division. The Iqbal division police also failed to arrest 388 proclaimed offenders. These include 189 people wanted for murder.


The Madina Town division police had failed to arrest 385 proclaimed offenders, including 142 accused of murder. The Sadar division police failed to arrest 272 proclaimed offenders, including 111 accused of murder.


The Lyallpur division police failed to arrest 146 proclaimed offenders, including 69 accused of murder.


They said some of the station house officers had been caught sending false arrest reports to the higher authorities.
