Prison break: Inmate escape attempt foiled

An attempted prison break from a sub-jail in Benazirabad district was foiled on Sunday.

HYDERABAD: An attempted prison break from a sub-jail in Benazirabad district was foiled on Sunday. Around seven inmates had attempted to escape from the jail but their attempt was thwarted by the swift action of the authorities. At least two police officials were injured in the incident. According to jail official Iqbal Sanjrani, seven inmates broke out of their cells, attacked the wardens and tried to escape over the wall. They included three suspects, Mukhtiar Rind, Iqbal Rind and Sharafuddin Rind, who have been implicated in the murder of a police official, Ali Sher Solangi. The suspects were shifted to Nara Jail in Hyderabad district. Meanwhile, the district police conducted a search operation in the prison and found two pistols, 23 bullets, two mobile phones, alcohol and narcotics from the suspects’ possession.
