Fashion police: Welcome to the Addams Family

Sadly, if anyone can make Chanel look tacky, it’s Miley Cyrus.

Sadly, if anyone can make Chanel look tacky, it’s Miley Cyrus.

While it might be an insult to the word ‘style’ to say that   has a sense of it, the actor truly outdid herself at the Bambi Awards earlier this week. It appears she may have been going for a sartorial palate cleanser with her less risqué Goth gown. However, the look overpowers her slight frame and is too Morticia Addams for our liking.

The Charge Sheet

Hair and Make-up:

We have to (grudgingly) give her props for her beauty look for the evening. Her kohl-rimmed eyes stand out and her lashes look luscious without being clumpy. The berry coloured pout is a fantastic look for Fall, and we have to admit that she is working it. If she hadn’t held gone overboard on the rest of her look, she might actually have looked sophisticated for a change.

Outfit:

One might think that it is impossible to look bad in vintage Jean Paul Gaultier. The Wrecking Ball singer-actor proves, once again, how wrong we all are. It appears that Miley can always find more style frontiers to destroy, and she certainly does so with this too mature, floor length sheath-like dress. She is (thankfully) more modest than usual, however the flared, hoop cuff sleeves on this dress aren’t doing her any favours by swamping her petite frame.

Accessories and Shoes:

The singer paired her look with Fendi shoes and Lorraine Schwartz jewellery. Her standout accessory has to be that Chanel pearl choker. Sadly, if anyone can make Chanel look tacky, it’s Miley Cyrus. The statement necklace would have looked exquisite with a strapless gown. With this neckline, it looks as heavy-handed as the rest of the look.

Bail out!

Anne Hathaway

While the actor’s daring look at the New York premiere of Les Miserables was a polarizing one, with critics either loving or hating it, it was still miles better than Miley’s attempt at a similar Goth ensemble. Hathaway’s look at least had potential. If she had done without the OTT heavily-buckled gladiator heels (sorry Tom Ford), she would have looked quite glamorous.

Deepika Padukone

Deepika showed us how it’s done at the press conference for Happy New Year in Dubai. Her traditional Arab attire is easily adaptable for regular wear here in Pakistan. She wisely pulled her hair up off her face so that the high collar did not shorten her neck. This look is positively desi, and we expect you to be rocking it ASAP, as soon as you find that perfect shade of Berry for your skin tone.

Jennifer Lawrence

Lawrence usually prefers to be more fresh-faced at red carpet appearances, but her ensemble at the Paris premiere of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire proves that she can pull off any look. Her Christian Dior couture silk satin pleated dress was just vampy enough, while her hair softened the overall look. She skipped a necklace, and we give her bonus points for her diamond encrusted ear cuff, which added just the right amount of bling.
