Rawalpindi backlash: Islamabad's Red Zone sealed off
Measure taken after reports of planned protest in Red Zone after funerals of those killed in Rawalpindi clash.

The capital's sensitive Red Zone was sealed off on Sunday, Express News reported.
The security measure was taken in light of the violent clash in neighbouring Rawalpindi which left nine people dead on Muharram 10.
According to Express News, authorities took this added measure after reports of arrangements being made for a protest led by clerics and seminary students from Lal Masjid, after the funerals of those killed in the Rawalpindi clash.
At least three funerals were held under high security at Liaquat Bagh this evening. Maulana Samiul Haq led funeral prayers, while other clerics in attendance made calls for maintaining peace. Thousands of people attended the funerals.
Empty containers were placed to block key entry points of the Red Zone, which houses Aiwan-e-Sadr, Prime Minister’s House, PM Secretariat and Parliament House, along with the diplomatic enclave.
