Year’s performance: Police recover 243 stolen cell phones

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Police arrested around 279 suspected criminals during 2013 and recovered, among other things, 243 snatched cell phones from their possession, a police spokesperson said on Thursday. The suspects were involved in various street crimes, according to the police. The Islamabad Police also arrested 142 gamblers during raids in different parts of the city and recovered stake money and items worth hundreds of thousands of rupees from them. Senior Superintendent Police Islamabad Muhammad Rizwan has directed all Sub-Divisional Police Officers and Station House Officers to ensure effective patrolling in their jurisdictions and take action against criminal elements.
