Jennifer Lawrence, best known for her role as Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games, is a woman many young fans look up to. With her endearing sense of humour, along with her strong views and opinions about issues close to her heart, Lawrence has become the darling of Hollywood.

Weight is an issue Lawrence, along with pretty much all of Hollywood, has had to deal with. With wafer thin models gracing the covers of magazines and strutting down runways, the fashion industry has relentlessly barred anyone with even the slightest meat on their bones, and Lawrence is no exception.

During a recent interview with Yahoo! CEO Marissa Mayer on Thursday, as part of her Hunger Games promotional tour, Lawrence spoke out about these issues,  addressing one TV show in particular which projects harmful body images.

“There are shows like The Fashion Police that are just showing these generations of young people to judge people based on all the wrong values and that it’s OK to point at people and call them ugly or fat,” she said, according to Daily Mail.

“They call it fun and they say welcome to the real world  [but] that shouldn’t be the real world, it’s going to continue being the real world if we keep it that way,” she said.

“We have to stop treating each other like that and stop calling each other fat.”

While her thoughts and words were both brave and noble, Lawrence’s direct pass at the TV show Fashion Police ignited a feud between her and the show’s host, 80-year-old comedienne Joan Rivers. Rivers took to Twitter to unleash her fury, and posted one particularly nasty tweet about Lawrence’s Oscar fall.

“WAIT! It just dawned on me why Jennifer Lawrence fell on her way up to the stage to get her Oscar. She tripped over her own arrogance,” the comedienne tweeted.

Lawrence hasn’t acknowledged or retaliated to Rivers’ statements, but this is definitely a feud to watch out for.
