NOWSHERA: Former provincial minister Bashir Khan Umerzai was acquitted along with his three sons by a court in Nowshera on Wednesday. The accused were implicated in the murder case of former MPA Alamzeb Khan Umerzai. On April 22, 2010, Alamzeb Umerzai of Qaumi Watan Party was present outside a Sui Gas office in Charsadda when unidentified gunmen opened fire at him, killing Alamzeb, Sui Gas officer Sher Jaan and FC official Mubarik Jaan. Two people were also injured in the incident. Relatives of the deceased MPA later filed a case against their rivals – Awami National Party leader Bashir Khan Umerzai and his three sons Khalil, Mansoor and Shakeel. The case was subsequently shifted from Charsadda to Nowshera district court due to security concerns. On Wednesday, district and sessions judge Abdur Rauf Khan acquitted Bashir and his sons of all charges.
