Climbing the ladder: Peshawar High Court Chief Justice promotes civil judges

Peshawar High Court (PHC) Chief Justice Dost Muhammad Khan has promoted seven senior civil judges to the post of additional district and sessions judges, while as many civil judges have been promoted to posts of senior civil judges. The chief justice also ordered the posting of 48 judges to various districts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P).
Senior civil judges/aala illaqa qazis of BPS-19 promoted to the post of additional district and sessions judge/izafi zilla qazi BPS-20 include Abdul Hakim Hashmi, Syed Obaidullah Shah, Qaiser Rahim, Manzoor Qadir Khan, Muhammad Shoaib, Javedur Rehman and Hidayatullah Khan.
Civil judges/judicial magistrates/illaqa qazis of BPS-18 promoted to senior civil judge/aala illaqa qazi BPS-19 include Syed Ali Raza, Syed Kamal Hussain Shah, Azimullah Mishwani, Safir Qaiser Malik, Ajmal Shah, Muhammad Arif Khan and Adil Akbar Khan.
“The district and sessions judges/zilla qazis concerned shall immediately complete the distribution process of the cases of vacant courts, if any, amongst other courts of competent jurisdiction within the district, keeping in view the formula of equal pendency in each court,” stated an official notification.
Some of the additional and sessions judges transferred to other districts include Kalim Arshad Khan from Bannu to Peshawar, Mehmoodul Hassan from Hangu to Bannu, Muhammad Naseem Khan from Swabi to DI Khan, Asghar Shah from Peshawar to Charsadda, and Amjad Zia Siddiqui from Karak to Dir Lower.
Moreover, two deputy attorney generals of Pakistan in the Peshawar High Court – Iqbal Mohmand and Muzamil Khan – have tendered their resignations to the president. They belong to the Pakistan Peoples Party and were appointed during the previous government’s tenure on August 22, 2008. They served at the post for five years and three months.
