PESHAWAR:
Doctors, paramedics and nursing staff of Peshawar’s three biggest hospitals will be on duty round the clock for emergency services during Muharram holidays.
The announcement was made through press releases issued from Khyber Teaching Hospital (KTH), Hayatabad Medical Complex (HMC) and Lady Reading Hospital (LRH).
Talking to The Express Tribune, HMC Chief Executive Professor Dr Tahir Khan said they have decided all doctors, paramedical staff and nurses will be present and the operation theatre would also remain functional during 9th and 10th of Muharram. He added emergency units will be operational and the senior registrar will be present.
KTH Chief Executive Professor Dr Inayat Shah Roghani has directed the medical superintendent to open the mass emergency unit to deal with any eventuality. He said two fully-equipped ambulances with doctors and paramedics would be deputed for 9th and 10th of Muharram. Nurses living at the residential complex of the hospital would remain on call during Muharram holidays for emergency duty, he added.
LRH spokesperson Jamil Shah said an emergency has been in place at the hospital since the first day of Muharram, while doctors will be on duty during the holidays. He added all preparations have been made and all ambulances had been put on alert. “All the doctors in the emergency unit will be available and the hospital administration has a list of other doctors who can be contacted for duty at any time,” he informed.
