Kidnapping: Sindh Express reporter goes missing

The family said their last contact with Thaheem was when he was near Naudero. Police have yet to register the case.

Asghar Thaheem, a reporter of the daily Sindh Express, was kidnapped on the way to his village, Dakhan, from Larkana on November 7. His driver, Tariq Soomro, is also missing.


Thaheem’s car was found a day after his kidnapping near Piyaral Dahani village. The Larkana and Shikarpur police have, however, yet to figure out where Thaheem was kidnapped from. The family said their last contact with Thaheem was when he was near Naudero. The police have yet to register the case.

Meanwhile, the police conducted a raid at Piyaral Dahani village on Friday but arrested three women. “The attitude of the police is non-serious,” said Aziz Thaheem, the victim’s uncle. “They don’t cooperate with us.” The 35-year-old journalist has three sons and a daughter Journalists in Shikarpur, Madeji, Dakhan, Garhi Yaseen, held protests on Friday and Saturday and demanded the authorities find Thaheen as soon as possible. The city of Dakhan was completely shut down on Monday to protest the kidnapping, as well.
