LAHORE:
The construction of a wall around Model Town courts will start this week.

Talking to APP on Sunday, Lahore Bar Association Model Town Vice President Irfan Basra said the committee headed by Justice Manzoor Ahmad Malik had approved the construction of the wall.

He said the Lahore High Court would fund the construction.

He said after the committee had given its approval, the sessions judge and officials of the Buildings Department had visited the Model Town courts.

Basra said that they decided to started construction immediately.

He said that four lawyers’ chambers would be affected by the construction but the committee was still considering how to compensate them.

Basra said several unfortunate incidents, including the killing of two under-trial prisoners, had taken place on court premises due to lack of security.

He said that a few police personnel could not ensure security in the absence of a boundary wall around the court premises.

He hoped that after the construction of the wall and the  installation of security cameras and walk-through gates, the security problem would be resolved.
