Child labour: Three accused of selling a girl
Case sought against pir for conning petitioner out of Rs200,000.

An additional district and sessions judge directed Sattukatla police on Friday to record the complaint of a woman seeking registration of a case against three men allegedly involved in selling her daughter.
The petitioner said she had visited her brother Hanif Masih’s house along with her 14-year-old on August 11, 2012. She said her relatives Bhola Masih, Javed Masih and Younas Masih were also present. She said they said proposed a cleaning job for her daughter at a house in Allama Iqbal Town.
She said they told her that her daughter would be paid handsomely. She said she agreed and the three men took her daughter to Allama Iqbal Town. She said they paid her Rs3,000 a month for four months but then stopped giving her any money. She said they also did not allow her to meet her daughter for two years. She said she later found out through other relatives that they had sold her daughter. She asked the court to direct the police to register a case against the men and recover her daughter. The court directed the police to record her statement and proceed in accordance with the law.
‘Pir said my father was murdered and demons lived in my house’
An additional district and sessions judge on Friday directed the police to record complaint of a man seeking criminal proceedings a fake pir, who he says conned him out Rs200,000. Petitioner Abul Manan Baig told the court that he had met Qari Mumtaz at a mosque where he offered prayers. He said when his father died, Mumtaz told him he had not died from natural causes, but had been murdered. He said his family asked Mumtaz to expose the killers. He said Mumtaz told them that there evil spirits living at their home and offered to exorcise them.
He said Mumtaz took Rs200,000 from him to reveal the names of his father’s killers and to exorcise the demons from his home. He said Mumtaz was now demanding more money to complete the job. Baig said he had approached Gulshan-i-ravi police but they did entertain his complaint. He asked the court to direct the SHO to register case against Mumtaz for defrauding his family and recover his money.
