Imran Khan directs CM Khattak to investigate corruption in K-P
PTI chairman takes notice of K-P ministers allegedly indulging in corruption.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan urged Chief minister of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Pervaiz Khattak, to investigate corruption in the province, according to PTI's official website.
Imran Khan took notice of ministers allegedly engaging in corruption in the province, which is under a PTI-led government.
The online press release reiterated the party's two electoral promises of bringing peace back to the country, particularly in K-P, and stamping out corruption. While campaigning for the May 2013 elections, Imran had promised that, if elected to power, PTI would end corruption in 90 days. That 90-day deadline passed on August 31 this year.
There can be absolutely no compromise on these two commitments, Imran is quoted as saying, and he promised that ministers guilty of corruption would be duly punished.
Billions lost in the Swiss accounts corruption case could have instead been used on education and betterment of the nation, Imran pointed out.
"Corruption starts from the top and so far, not a single report of corruption or malpractice by any minister or a member of the assembly has been reported due to our commitment to hunt all the black sheep," he is quoted as saying in an August 2013 article in the Business Recorder.
