LAHORE:
“There is no room for officials who misuse of their in the department,” Inspector General of Police Khan Baig said on Thursday.
Baig was addressing a meeting where he received a report from Discipline AIG Romail Akram on a complaint of abuse of power by policemen.
Akram told the meeting he visited Peshawar on October, 28 and met Noor Muhammad, his doctors and relatives. Muhammad said he had been beaten by traffic police officials in Muzaffargarh when he was on his way from Sindh to Peshawar.
He said the traffic police officials had demanded Rs1,000 from him. When he failed to pay the amount, they beat him up. Akram said Traffic DSP Asadullah Khan, Sub Inspector Muhammad Aslam Dasti, Constables Muhammad Ishtiaq, Abdul Jabbar and Ejaz Hussain were found guilty in the incident.
Baig suspended Asadullah Khan from service and ordered FIRs against the four officials.
