Environment Protection Dept: LHC reinstates 61 employees
The sacked employees had told the court that they had been hired in six districts for a three-year project.
LAHORE:
A Lahore High Court division bench on Wednesday ordered the restoration of 61 employees of the Environment Protection Department. The sacked employees had told the court that they had been hired in six districts for a three-year project. Though the project was later permanently adopted by the department, their services were terminated in 2012. The government had then advertised fresh vacancies for the project, whilst their petition against their sacking was pending. The EPD counsel said the department had a right to dismiss the employees, as the court had not stayed their sacking. The court rejected the argument and directed the EPD to reinstate the petitioners.
