KARACHI: With an aim to bring investment to Pakistan, Switzerland brings its cheese and famous instrument, hang drum, to Karachi in its Swiss Culinary Week, announced the consulate general of Switzerland at a press conference on Wednesday.

The Swiss Culinary Week will kick off from November 26 to November 29 at Pearl Continental hotel. The food festival will take place on the sidelines of the exhibition called ‘Made in Switzerland’, which is a three-day workshop featuring 40 Swiss companies with their products.

Organised in collaboration with the Swiss Business Council, Karachi and Switzerland Global Enterprise in Zurich, the exhibition will commence on November 25 at 12pm. “We want to present a positive image of Pakistan,” claimed consul-general Didier Boschung.

Doing it the Swiss way

Switzerland is also bringing its acclaimed cheese to the city on the night of Swiss Culinary Week. “We eat cheese the way you eat rice - with everything,” exclaimed Boschung. “A Swiss chef is coming all the way from Switzerland to cook our seven-course meal live,” he told The Express Tribune.

“The chef was our musician initially but he thought he could use his experience as a restaurant owner here,” said the consul-general. “Now the chef, along with his musician father and uncle, will play their instruments at the Swiss week.”

“Our special melted cheese [raclette], which is an indigenous Swiss dish is also going to be served at the dinners,” the consul-general said. “We are going to have a social meal, the pot of cheese called fondue.” The general manager of PC was excited as well. “All of Swiss is going to be part of the exhibition,” said Azeen Qureshi.
