Additionally, Civil Judge Fouzia Anjum’s reader was flung down a flight of stairs.
The attacker, identified as lawyer Habibur Rahman, entered a courtroom in Lahore with an unidentified companion and attacked the reader, injuring him.
The staff of the civil court went on strike following the attack. Meanwhile, female staffers have taken solace in the office of a civil judge.
Other attacks
On November 4, a case was registered against 16 lawyers for vandalising a courtroom and threatening a judge.
Cantonment police had said Advocate Muhammad Umair of district and sessions court had interrupted Judge Muhammad Rasheed Qamar during the hearing of a petition. The judge had ordered the lawyer not to interrupt the proceedings.
The lawyer had left, but returned with several other lawyers.
They had broken courtroom furniture and had threatened the judge with dire consequences.
Some of them had also tried to attack the judge, who was escorted out of the chamber by the police and taken to the retirement room.
On August 28, opposing counsel at a bail hearing in an assault case got into a fight that turned into a mass brawl at the District and Sessions Court in Lahore.
As the accused went to the courtroom yesterday morning, they were set upon by the complainant’s lawyers, said witnesses. Their lawyer Advocate Adnan tried to intervene, but he too was beaten up, according to witnesses.
Adnan’s colleagues then also got involved, and a huge brawl ensued on the premises. Lawyers picked up chairs and tables from inside the courtroom and flung them at each other.

Seriously, do you guys understand what you write ? It might be a good idea to get any copy checked for innuendo or double meaning. The above statement does not mean what the writer is trying to convey.
If lawyers cannot or will not police themselves an outside agency will be forced to restrain their unlawful, violent behavior. Idiots. Why can't they elect sane and civilised representatives to the Bar and follow discipline? The District judges should apply existing disciplinary measures without fear or favour and get unstinting help from their CJ and CMs.
In the civilized world a lawyer would loose his license and be tossed in jail for contempt for just threatening a judge. Attorney's threatening and assaulting judges seems to be common in Pakistan - another thing on the "to fix" list. Maybe CJ should spend some time fixing the broken judiciary system - he isn't having much luck fixing the broken executive branch.
Atmospher in and around civil courts are like a fish or goat markets. Most of lawyers are divided in political groups and civil judges are incompetant. Judiciary like or not but admit that they have to overhaul civil courts. Almost 99% of cases first must go through civil courts n this is the place where cases delays years. When some needs to move to High Courts plus/minus 65% victims die facing bankcrupcty, tiredness and other die. Lawyers n Civil Judges just come n go.
Uncivliced behaviors in the court is an issue? I do not think so as its being observed on daily basis. I'm sure no any one will get punishment.
This is the true face of Judiciary.
