The facility of Laser Cataract surgery is now available at the Hashmanis Hospital in Karachi, said Dr Sharif Hashmani at the inauguration ceremony. “The bladeless treatment is very easy with around 99 per cent accuracy. It takes only five to 10 minutes for the treatment,” he said, claiming that the machine at Hashmanis Hospital was the first one in Pakistan. Ophthalmologist Dr Akher Jamal Khan said that ageing, ultraviolet rays and polluted diet were some of reasons of cataract. “Cloudiness and low vision are the initial symptoms of this disease and should not be ignored,” he said.
