Speakers have said that resources allocated to Balochistan under the NFC Award were not being used judiciously, thus denying the people its benefits.
They were speaking at a discussion entitled “Understanding Balochistan-Baloch youth perspective”, jointly organised by Centre for Research and Security Studies (CRSS) and the Department of Defence and Strategic Studies, Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU) here on Monday.
QAU Vice Chancellor Dr Masoom Yasinzai said that the Baloch will not benefit from their resources unless they were given a chance to get proper education.
He said that parents from far-flung areas of Balochistan did not send their daughters to educational institutions and universities in Quetta due to non-availability of transport. “This issue must be resolved to encourage girls’ education in the province,” he said.
Members of a delegation of the Baloch Youth Forum (BYF) said that the people of Balochistan have a deep sense of deprivation which demanded urgent attention from those at the helm of the affairs.
They said that Balochistan was rich in resources but the people of the province were not benefiting from it.
The members of the BYF also talked about various issues including the hazardous effects of the Chagi nuclear tests on the people, growing joblessness, missing persons’ cases and the overall law and order situation in the province.
