Gridlock: Massive traffic jam in city

In the name of security, the law enforcers have disturbed the lives of common people, a motorcyclist said.

KARACHI:
A massive traffic jam was witnessed at main thoroughfares in the city as the police and other law-enforcement agencies stopped vehicular traffic to avoid any untoward incident in the wake of the Chief of Army staff General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani’s visit on Monday evening. Most of the roads in the city, including Sharae Faisal, MA Jinnah Road, II Chundrigar Road, Metroville, Fawara Chowk roundabouts and the areas surrounding Army House, Governor House and Chief Minister House witnessed gridlocks for several hours during peak hours. “The law enforcers did not even permit passers-by cross the roads while most of vehicles ran out of fuel during the traffic jam,” said Sohail Raza, a motorcyclist, who was stranded on II Chundrigar Road. In the name of security, the law enforcers have disturbed the lives of common people, who are already facing the worst crisis in this restive city, he added.
