Smooth transport: KMC announce four new projects

Karachi Metropolitan Corporation administrator Saqib Ahmed Soomro revealed that four new projects would be carried out in Karachi in the currest fiscal year, including a bridge each at Malir Halt, Malir 15 and Shaheen Complex roundabout as well as an underpass near the Mehran Hotel intersection.



The administrator said there is an urgent need to build the Madr-e-Jamhooriat underpass and the Shaheed Benazir Bhutto flyover at the Shaheen Complex roundabout due to the traffic congestion that is regularly faced by commuters. The underpass will cost Rs459 million while Rs536 million will be spent on the flyover and both projects will be completed in eight months. The Malir Halt flyover, which be built for around Rs495.65 million, will be 411 metres long. Soomro concluded by directing officers to ensure immediate start of work on these projects which are being funded by the provincial government.
