Freight train bogies got derailed in two incidents resulting in suspension of railway traffic.

BAHAWALPUR:
Freight train bogies got derailed on Saturday in two incidents resulting in suspension of railway traffic. Railway officials said a Lahore-bound train carrying oil from Karachi was crossing Khanpur station at around 11pm, when one of its bogies got derailed. A relief train crane was brought from Samma Satta and the bogey was put back on the track after repair. Several passenger trains that were schedule to depart from the station were cancelled due to the derailment. In another incident, two freight train bogies carrying oil collided on the same track earlier on Saturday. Axels of both the bogies were damaged. The repair work took more than four hours. Divisional Engineer Abdur Rehman Abro personally visited the scene from Sukkar. He told reporters that traffic on the track would be resumed after completing an investigation into what had caused the derailment. Six trains have been derailed on this track in the last three years. The Fareed Express, Allama Iqbal Express, Awam Express, Pakistan Express, Khyber Mail Express and Jaffar Express schedules were cancelled for Saturday due to the incidents.
