Pakistan started their campaign in the Asian Champions Trophy with a resounding 8-0 win over lowly Oman in Kakamigahara, Japan.
Defending champions Pakistan were on song from the outset, and led by three goals at half-time. Oman struggled to make an impact and were held at bay by the greenshirts throughout the match.
The team carried its momentum into the second-half and added five more goals to seal a comprehensive win for Pakistan, with captain Muhammad Imran scoring three goals, while Salman Hussain and Dilbar Hussain netted a brace each.
Pakistan will now take on Japan in their second match tomorrow.
This is the second edition of the tournament featuring the six top-ranked Asian teams. Pakistan won the inaugural event in Doha last year, edging out arch-rivals India in a closely-fought final.
