ISLAMABAD:

A contempt application was filed against the controversial chief of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Najam Sethi in Islamabad High Court (IHC) for defying the court’s order. On October 29, Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui had suspended Interim Management Committee (IMC) and restrained Sethi from performing his duties.

The petitioner Ahmed Nawaz sought contempt of court proceedings against Sethi for ignoring the court orders.

The counsel for Ahmed Nawaz, Advocate Abdul Razak Rajab in his contempt application maintained that despite the court order Sethi is still performing his duties which amounted to contempt of court.

“Sethi used contemptuous language against an IHC judge during a talk show of a TV channel and also on social website twitter, saying that he is still the chairman of the board,” Rajab stated.

“Sethi after having knowledge of the restraining order is still performing his duty deliberately and intentionally violating the order passed,” Rajab added.
