Hearing the case of the kidnapped former VC, PHC Chief Justice (CJ) Dost Muhammad Khan and Justice Qaiser Rashid Khan ordered Governor Shaukatullah Khan to organise the meeting immediately. Political agents of the agencies, elders, FATA additional chief secretary and field commander of the armed forces must be included to hasten Ajmal’s return, added the bench.
Elected representatives of both agencies also appeared before the PHC and requested a meeting of senior officials to help with the safe return of the abducted former vice chancellor (VC).
“Teachers and professors are highly respected throughout the world, but Ajmal Khan has been missing for over a year and the government hasn’t taken any concrete steps for his recovery,” said CJ Khan. Ajmal’s family and fellow teachers are distraught by his absence, he added.
On September 18, the PHC directed elders of South Waziristan to help recover the missing former vice chancellor as they had played a pivotal role in the safe recovery of seven out of eight abducted Gomal Zam Dam employees. It also issued notices to both federal and provincial governments to explain what they have done to facilitate the situation.
