LAHORE:

“There are more than 152 million blogs on the internet. A new blog is created after every half a second,” Anusha Riaz, an 11-year-old blogger, told an interactive session of young authors at the second day of the Children Literature Festival on Thursday.

She was leading a discussion session titled How to Set Up a Blog. Riaz said that a blog is a personal website or a webpage where one can record opinions, share music and videos and start discussions with other bloggers. “Blogs are interactive, fun and simple to use,” she said. “They are also great places to meet new people.”

She said a website was a general term while a blog was a more specific one. “Blogs can have any number of subjects; general information, travel, food, sports, literature, gossip and movies,” she said.  She encouraged participants of the session to give interesting names to their blogs and choose colourful schemes and backgrounds. She told them about the importance of blogs and how they could promote their blog using various social media tools. She said blog readership had increased by 31 per cent over the last three years. She said surveys showed that most people read blogs in the morning.
