Bangladesh bowlers delivered a top-class performance as they defeated New Zealand by 40 runs in the second match of the three One-Day International (ODI) series.
Batting first, the hosts posted a decent score of 247 on a sluggish wicket at the Shere Bangla stadium in Dhaka. Tamim Iqbal top-scored with 58 while James Neesham and Corey Anderson claimed four wickets each for the tourists.
In reply, the Black Caps lost wickets at regular intervals; they were down and out when Ross Taylor fell for 45 in the 40th over. Nathan McCullum and Kyle Mills pushed the score past 200. However, the hosts ran out comfortable winners in the 47th over of the match.
“We are having a rough time as a unit, but credit to Bangladesh that they played better cricket than us,” said New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum, according to ESPNcricinfo. The third and final ODI will be played in on November 3.
