Two people were killed as a result of targeted shooting in Surab Bazaar in Kalat district, about 200 kilometers from Quetta, on Thursday morning.
The assailants were on motorbikes and attempted to flee the scene after the incident, according to District Police Officer Nazir Kurd.
He added that there was an exchange of fire between the police and the assailants in the mountainous area of Kalat.

The dead were identified as Nisar Ahmed s/o Ghulam Nabi and Sarfraz Shaikh Hussaini, residents of Anjira.
The law and order situation in Kalat and Khuzdar districts has worsened in the past few months and dozens of people have been targeted by rival groups.
